Passaporta was an art collective formed by Mara Ambrožič, Jasmina Cibic, Mary Favaretto and Meta Grgurevič, active between Ljubljana and Venice from 2000 to 2005. Working across installation and performance, the group developed projects that staged situations of transit—most notably environments resembling waiting rooms and performative scripts resembling actions of stewardeses and passport control and x ray personell—inserted into liminal and mobile contexts such as trains crossing national borders where they staged their performances dressed in specific uniforms in between the two state official police controls.

Their practice explored the mechanisms of mobility, identity, and control, foregrounding the rituals and bureaucratic structures that shape the experience of passage. The artist book produced by the collective takes the form of a blank passport, conceived as a performative tool within their actions. Activated through exchange, it functioned as a mutable document—an object through which participation, authorship, and identity could be collectively negotiated.
