Kasseler Dokfest
A publication accompanying the 30th Kassel Documentary Festival, 2013
The exhibition Fünfuhrtee in Kiribati bridges the gap into the 4th dimension – time, which all the festival preparations have left us scant little of. A Wall is a Screen wants to be an addition to the “stationary” Open Air cinema of the Filmladen, turning the walls of Kassel houses into cinema screens. To cut down on disturbance during the cinema experience in the fu- ture, we have initiated the competition “not without my mobile! Is my behavior wrong? Or: The correct use of my mobile in the cinema!”
Even 30 years on, the Kassel Dokfest is still moving, dynamic, communicative and friendly. The 256 films in the program, the 17 media installations of the Monitoring exhibition, 15 VJs and DJs at the lounge, the numerous workshops and lectures prove this. Our “host parents” in Kassel give the majority of our traveled guests a home and are thus a direct link between the city and the festival. The discussions after the films and presentations allow a deep exchange and encourage creative and entertaining encounters.
